Nearly three quarters of the population in this country feel a certain level of nervousness, fear, or anxiety when visiting the dentist. Because of Dr. Ahuja’s experience in treating nervous patients, she has specifically designed our office to be a safe and secure place for all her patients.
Dr. Ahuja and our compassionate team take the time to listen to your worries and strive to treat you with thoughtfulness and concern. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you walk in the door to the end of the procedure.
If the comforting atmosphere of our dentist office isn’t enough to calm your nerves, we also offer the option of sedation. We’ll do our best to ensure that you receive the comfort you need.
Specifically, we offer nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” to our patients who experience nerves when seeing the dentist. This means that you can physically and mentally relax. Through sedation dentistry, we can greatly reduce the stress some feel during a dental visit.
Should I Try Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is recommended for those who suffer from fear, anxiety, nervousness and other negative emotions when they visit the dentist. In general, patients who benefit from sedation include those who:
- Feel a great deal of anxiety and fear when they enter a dentist office.
- Procrastinate dental visits and important treatments due to fear.
- Have a very active gag reflex.
- Have neck or back problems, or other physical limitations which cause them discomfort when seated in a dentist chair.
Sedation Dentistry For You
Sedation dentistry is a proven and effective method to soothe apprehensive patients. At Rite Smile Dental, we understand the fears surrounding dental visits. We treat you with kindness, respect, and careful consideration at all times, especially if you convey to us your discomfort. We would love to have a discussion with you to further explain our use of dental sedation and make sure we find the right solution for you.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
At Rite Smile Dental, we recommend nitrous oxide sedation to our anxious patients. This is a simple way to help alleviate anxiety, and it produces no lasting effects. We lightly settle a mask over your nose and allow you to breathe in the nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas.”
This odorless gas produces a warm, soothing sensation throughout your body, which will allow you to settle in and feel much more relaxed. It’s like being wrapped in a blanket of calm. When your procedure is over and we remove the mask, it’s only a matter of a few minutes before the effect wears off and you can go about your day.
